PRODUCTS ON TRIAL TUESDAYS: Terrific Tips Nail Extensions

Nikki C. aka PlatinumLuvXoXo (Plaintiff)

vs.

Terrific Tips "Enchanted Nites" Nail Extensions (Defendant)

Plaintiff accuses Defendant of being of a low quality nail extension, that cracks and or breaks in a short period of time.   Though Plaintiff has suffered loss of valuable time and money and has experienced utter embarrassment from having to go to work with broken and missing nails, Plaintiff is not seeking any compensation from Defendant. Plaintiff only desires to alert the public of the risks in purchasing Defendant.

FRESHLY DONE SET

Examination & Evidence:

Plaintiff has purchased and applied Defendant approximately six (6) times, and has had issues with Defendant each time.

Not enough sizes - the sizes are just..."weird". Plaintiff argues that it was really difficult to find the right sizes to fit her nail bed. (EXHIBIT A) Plaintiff was forced to use ones that were too big and file them to fit. This resulted in the shape of the nail tip being altered and not looking as nice as it could have had they been "straight out of the pack perfection".

Plaintiff argues it took too long to apply (approx. 45 mins) because of all the "personalizing" which had to be done to them.

EXHIBIT 'A'

Plaintiff argues Defendant is not flexible enough, so application is more difficult. Plaintiff had to apply too much pressure to make it stick to nail - which can lead to air bubbles.

Defendant's cuticle edge is too straight. Most cuticles are slightly curved. Have to file that edge to curve accordingly ( EXHIBIT B).

EXHIBIT 'B'

Defendant must be polished or embellished because of the line under Defendant that is caused from being a "tip" as well as a full-cover nail (EXHIBIT C).

EXHIBIT 'C'

Plaintiff complains that Defendant began to crack and split right down the middle after one (1) day! Applied on Saturday, had to remove all of them by Tuesday!!! (EXHIBIT D)

EXHIBIT 'D' - TOP: Left Thumb, Right Thumb, Right Index  - 2 Days After Application

 Plaintiff's Closing Statement:

"I have never used press-ons or tips that cracked as easily as these! I really wanted these to work out. They are always in stock at Sally's so obtaining them is a breeze. They DO look good and look as though I grew them myself when you first apply them, but they just aren't strong enough to last. I hope Terrific Tips really considers changing whatever the heck it is that they make these nails!"

Verdict:

We find the Defendant, "Terrific Tips"......

GUILTY of Being Made of Cheap Inferior Materials!

MAKEUP BLENDING SPONGE SERIES Vol.1: "Revive" by Beauty Pro

"I have no idea how to use them, but by the grace of which ever higher power, I will learn!!" NIKKI C.

This "series" will take a look at a few copycats of the infamous, "Beauty Blender" sponges. Honestly, I can't really see myself paying the $20 or more for the BBlender - I almost did, but I managed to reel it in and contain my impulse.

This is the 1st one purchased, "Revive" Makeup Blending Applicator:

WHERE TO BUY: In Canada - Winners and Marshalls. TJ Maxx in the US. Not sure where else.

PRICE : Only $5.99!

VARIETY?: Only variations in colors. Mint green, yellow, baby blue, and of course, pink.

TEXTURE: Very soft and pliable - velvety feeling.

EXPANDABILITY: It does expand when you wet it. Not significantly though. I could barely notice the difference.

COVERAGE: Very light to medium. My dark spots were laughing at me as I tried to conceal them with this thing. Even after applying my NYX concealer, every time I'd try to blend that (with the pointier side), it would just come off! Whaaaaat?! Really?! Late for work again!

USE: Geez. My poor arms were killing me by the time I had finished "blending"! I realize though that this sponge will  not work if you try to swipe the makeup on. It basically takes off what you put on. I ended up applying my Ruby Kisses HD Powder and blending with my E.L.F Powder Brush after these pics were taken.

CLEANING: Very, very easy to clean!! 5 minutes to get it looking brand new. I washed with Mastey Paris Sulfate Free Shampoo, Squeezed out water with a white towel to ensure no traces of makeup left.

** WARNING**
I have recently suffered a really bad reaction to something. Hence the embarrassing acne and dark spots. Don't judge me ;) :

L: Bare Skin w/ Primer / R: Foundation Applied
L: Revive /  R:Fingers
Whooo..DIRTY! 3 applications of Revlon Mineral Mousse Foundation
Wowww...CLEAN and looking new!

MY FINAL VERDICT:  Hmmm.. I tried this only with the mineral mousse foundation.  I'm wondering if THAT'S what the problem is. That foundation is hard to work with. BUT I did try different primers and amounts of water in the sponge, and I just could not get this sponge to cooperate for nothing! So, I will try with my Colorstay liquid foundation over the weekend and update. For now, I have to say:

GIVE IT A TRY!! -  it's only $5.99 anyways, right?

Affordable Remy Lace Closure

I'm new to this closure thing. Lace, silk, invisible part...it was all like, "huh?!?!" to me.

Now, I don't know how I ever got through my partial weaves without wearing one!

I just installed my first, home-made u-part wig with some virgin brazilian hair that I won in a giveaway on YouTube and I needed something to go with it (more on that hair to come). Being that the cold Canadian weather is hitting now, I need to protect the hair that I've been surprisingly growing at a rapid rate this past year.

Jumped into my car. Sped over to the local beauty supply store and searched. $28.99 later, and this is what I happily skipped out of the store with from a brand called "Hollywood":

ON THE UP SIDE:

Remy Human Hair - it's really good quality, very soft.
Parting space is natural.
Holds curls very well.
Blends beautifully with virgin hair or beauty supply store hair.

ON THE DOWN SIDE:

Lace is like...plastic, kinda. I think.
Only one length offered - 10"
Unable to tweeze part - will rip the lace.

IN A NUTSHELL:

I'd recommend it for first-timers and those that don't want to spend $150 for a piece of hair attached to material that your significant other, mother or child may mistake for a toupee.

Get it at your local BSS or online!!

See Clearly for Nearly Nothing with Clearly Contacts

If you are looking *no pun intended* for a way to afford that pair of glasses that you have kept putting off, either for lack of available funds or fear of looking totally "not cool", look no further than Clearly Contacts (Coastal Contacts in the US).

I am one of those people that have almost always needed glasses, but hated the way I looked with them. Flashbacks to when I was 12 and looked like a "four-eyed" nerd *shudder*. It was not a cute look. Then it became a matter of deciding between glasses and contacts - the latter of which I chose. I got tired of the contacts though, tired of losing one in the car while putting the finishing touches on my makeup while going to a club. Tired of ripping them accidentally. Tired of feeling like I had a piece of glass embedded in my eye, when it really was just a tiny fleck of dust. Tired of the cleaning. Just TIRED of everything associated with them!

Then glasses became somewhat of a chic thing to wear. It became an accessory. People that didn't even need glasses were sporting them without prescription lenses.

Now how was I going to get a pair when lenses usually run over $100 and then the frames ran over $100? My budget would not allow it!

Then I found Clearly Contacts....

Clearly Contacts is the leading eyeglass online retailer in Canada. I remember the days years ago when I used to see their advertisements and see the infamous words, "Get Your 1st Pair FREE!" and thinking to myself, "Yeah right. There has to be a catch".

Well, 1 day, about 2 years ago, those words were emblazoned on my computer screen as an ad on a website, and I clicked to see what the heck this company was trying to get out of people.

5 minutes of skimming through the site, I realized they weren't trying to get ANYTHING.

It isn't a scam. There are no secret contracts where you have to buy one now, and obligating you to buy more later.. eh, hem Columbia House...eh hem. You literally get your first pair free. The only thing you have to pay for is shipping and handling, which was around $15 for me in Toronto, as well as any special coatings you require such as anti-reflective, scratch resistance, etc. Even those items are cheap - you can bundle and get the entire package for like $20 max!

You do have to be aware of the fact that if you need special lenses or want ultra-thin lenses - because you're "too cool for school", or you suffer from astigmatism -  you do pay an additional amount. But it will STILL be way less than you would pay through your optician. Those that just need a basic pair of regular lenses can enjoy their first pair free, free, FREE!

When I tell people about this, they usually are very skeptical, but I can say I have been responsible for about 20 purchases that were made from people at work when they finally looked into themselves! I personally have purchased about 7 pairs of glasses - including these Fendi ones for $16.99 (after my $20 referal credit was applied:

Today, I grabbed this pair of Guess glasses for an unbelievable $12.90 (thanks to another $20 referral credit)!!:

It's Cyber Monday. They are offering free shipping and handling, free coatings bundle, and up to 60% off of frames. Yeah. Seriously.

The frame selection is amazing - frames for the whole family. They offer contacts at competitive prices. You have nothing to lose, except for maybe $15. Did I mention they have a 365 day return policy?
